Oscar grew up in Colombia and knew from an early age that he wanted to be a doctor. During his AMO rotation, Oscar had the opportunity to have a hands-on rotation, which was a very enriching experience. In March 2022, Oscar matched into the internal medicine residency program at the University of New Mexico.
"My AMO rotation was very structured and organized. I had the opportunity to have a hands-on rotation. My AMO advisor was always taking care of my questions. It was a very enriching experience. Knowing the U.S. healthcare system is essential for residency, I cannot stress this enough, because you will learn how things should be done, what are the protocols and how to get used to the electronic medical records system."
