This is a hospital-based, hospital-letterhead clinical rotation. Visitors will rotate with physicians in the radiology department at Jackson Memorial Hospital. The program mainly utilizes the clinical and research facilities of Jackson Memorial Hospital, the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, and the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics. Additional clinical research facilities are provided on and off campus.

This program offers individualized advanced education, focusing on patient care in general medicine, medical specialties and subspecialties, new procedures and methods, and teaching (curriculum design; methodology).

Through this rotation experience, visitors will learn about the medical specialty of radiology related to the use of medical imaging to diagnosis disease and creating effective treatment plans.

This rotation will provide visitors exposure to clinical skills such as recording patient history and performing physical exams. Visitors will become familiar with X-rays, radiography, ultrasounds, MRI, PET scans, and applying the findings from these tools to planning the care and treatment of patients.

In addition to the learning and skills obtained in a radiology rotation, individuals who choose to participate in the subspecialty rotation of diagnostic radiology will follow a more specialized curriculum geared towards the use of radiology to create a full diagnosis of a patient’s health. Visitors will become familiar with taking and interpreting scans.

Visitors will be assigned to sub-specialties upon reservation. Assignments are based on availability.
